Notre Dame’s president, Rev. John I. Jenkins, C.S.C., will be among the speakers at The New York Times Schools for Tomorrow Conference Sept. 8 and 9 at the The Times Center in New York.
The conference will bring together some 400 academics, government officials, philanthropists, technology innovators and investors to discuss the challenges and opportunities presented to higher education by recent social, economic, political and technological changes.
Father Jenkins and John Sexton, president of New York University, will participate in a conference session on “The Complications of Taking a University Global,” moderated by Tamar Lewin, domestic correspondent for The New York Times.
Other conference speakers will include Lee C. Bollinger, president of Columbia University; Rafael Bras, provost and executive vice president for academic affairs at Georgia Institute of Technology; Phil Bronner, CEO and co-founder of Quad Learning Inc.; New York Times op-ed columnist David Brooks; Sheryll Cashin, professor of law at Georgetown University; former Indiana governor Mitch Daniels, president of Purdue University; Allan E. Goodman, president and CEO of the Institute of International Education; Governor Bill Haslam of Tennessee; Catharine Bond Hill, president of Vassar College; Laurene Powell Jobs, founder and chair of Emerson Collective; and Richard Kahlenberg, senior fellow at the Century Foundation.
