Mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance and financial contracting
Cain’s recent research has investigated the role of investment banks in providing fairness opinions in mergers, the use of contingent “earnout” payments in mergers, and the impact of management participation in private equity buyouts. He teaches an undergraduate elective course on mergers and acquisitions, and an MBA-level course on mergers and acquisitions. Formerly, Cain served as an analyst at National City Bank in Cleveland, Ohio, where he worked on the sell-side origination of over $500 million in syndicated bank debt and private placement debt/equity transactions.
