David Sikkink

Associate Professor of Sociology

Sikkink studies religion and public life, religion and support for the Christian Right and the relationship between religion and trust. He also researches the politics of education, and private schooling and civil society. A recent study released by Sikkink and the Center for the Study of Religion and Society found that U.S. cogregations – including Protestant, Catholic, Jewish, Muslim and Hindu congregations – are giving record amounts in relief and development assistance to poor countries. Sikkink currently is working on a project funded by the Lilly Foundation that examines religious change over the life course. In addition, he serves as a fellow in Center for the Study of Religion and Society and Center for Research on Educational Opportunity.
