A faculty fellow in Notre Dame’s Institute for Educational Initiatives, Power has teaching experience in both middle and high schools. He consulted for two years in a character education program focused on discipline for at-risk high school students. He has authored five books and more than 70 articles on moral education and development with a focus on school discipline, moral atmosphere and democratic citizenship. He is past president of the Association for Moral Education and a recipient of the association’s Kuhmerker Award for his contributions to the field of moral education. In addition, Power is developer and director of Notre Dame’s Play Like A Champion Program, a research-based curriculum designed to assist youth sport organizations and high schools in nurturing character development through athletics. The program has been especially involved with Catholic parishes, schools and dioceses through its Sports As Ministry initiative. Power also is a member of the graduate faculty of Teacher and Leadership Education Programs.
