Glavas’ current research activities focus on the effects on employees when they work for the greater good. Specifically, he studies the impact on employee engagement, relationships at work, and creative involvement when employees work for more than money, when they feel that their work contributes to improving the environment and society. He has published and presented on topics related to corporate citizenship and organizational behavior as well as lectured at several universities including MIT, Case Western Reserve University, IE Business School, and the University of Zagreb. Glavas received his doctorate in organizational behavior from Case Western Reserve University, where he co-developed a signature course titled “Building the Sustainable Enterprise,” which has gained national recognition. As part of service to the school, he served as the executive director of BAWB ─ the Center for Business as an Agent of World Benefit (now known as the Fowler Center for Sustainable Value) ─ where he helped build the center into a large award-winning enterprise. Prior to going into academia, Glavas worked as an organizational consultant and lived in five countries, working with around 100 companies around the world. While living in Croatia, he led a team that built CBA, the first private graduate business school in the country and became its first CEO. He also established Horizon, a leadership institute in Croatia, which has worked with the post-conflict leadership development of thousands of individuals and hundreds of organizations in South-Eastern Europe and has since become the largest consulting and education company in the region. Glavas has also worked as a senior manager in Diageo, a Fortune 500 company, and started an organic foods company, which he owned and presided over. He has received numerous awards for his work contributing to society such as the medal of honor from the President of Croatia for his work contributing to the development of Croatia.
